Privacy Policy

DocketLayer LLC  ·  Effective May 13, 2026

1. Overview

DocketLayer LLC (“DocketLayer,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a pay-per-query API service. Because the Service requires no user accounts, no email registration, and no payment card data, we collect very little information about the people and systems that use it.

This Privacy Policy describes what data we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and what rights you have. It applies to the DocketLayer website at docketlayer.ai and the API at api.docketlayer.ai.

2. What We Collect

From API queries. When you make a request to a paid API endpoint, we receive and log the following:

  • Your Solana wallet address (provided as part of the x402 payment transaction)
  • The case ID and court code you queried
  • The timestamp of the request
  • The HTTP response status code
  • Your IP address

This data is used for billing verification, rate limiting, fraud prevention, and system health monitoring. Your wallet address is pseudonymous — we do not know who you are unless you tell us.

From the website. We do not collect analytics. No analytics software is installed on docketlayer.ai. We do not track page views, sessions, or traffic sources.

From contact. If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and the content of your message. We use this information only to respond to your inquiry.

3. What We Do Not Collect

  • We do not collect your name, physical address, or any government-issued identifiers
  • We do not collect credit card or bank account information — all payments are on-chain
  • We do not create user accounts or profiles
  • We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising purposes
  • We do not use website analytics software or collect page-level telemetry
  • We do not use third-party advertising networks or behavioral tracking
  • We do not sell your data to third parties

4. How We Use Your Information

Query logs (wallet address, case ID, timestamp, IP) are used to:

  • Verify that payment was received for paid queries
  • Enforce rate limits per wallet address
  • Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, or unauthorized access
  • Monitor and maintain API health and performance

Contact information is used only to respond to your inquiry.

We do not use any collected data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than operating and improving the Service.

5. Data Retention

API query logs are retained for as long as necessary to support billing verification, rate limiting, and abuse prevention — typically no longer than 90 days. Logs may be retained longer if required to investigate a specific incident or comply with a legal obligation.

Contact emails are retained until the inquiry is resolved and for a reasonable period thereafter. We do not maintain a marketing list.

6. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for commercial purposes.

We may disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, court order, or other legal process. We may also disclose information to protect the rights, property, or safety of DocketLayer, its users, or others, or to detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues.

If DocketLayer is acquired, merged, or its assets transferred, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice if that occurs.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security practices to protect query logs and other operational data. Access to logs is restricted to authorized systems for operational purposes only.

Because your API access is tied to a Solana wallet rather than an account, there is no password to reset and no account to compromise. The security of your wallet private keys is entirely in your hands. DocketLayer cannot recover lost wallet access.

8. Cookies

The DocketLayer website does not use cookies for tracking or advertising purposes. No analytics software is installed. Session-level browser storage may be used for functional purposes but is not used for identification or cross-session tracking.

9. Children

The Service is not directed at or intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with information, contact us at legal@docketlayer.com and we will take steps to delete it.

10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), provides you with the following rights regarding your personal information.

Categories of personal information we collect. We collect identifiers (IP address, Solana wallet address) and internet or other electronic network activity information (query logs including case IDs queried and timestamps). We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined under the CPRA.

Your rights:

  • Right to know. You may request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the purposes for which it is used, and any third parties with whom it has been shared.
  • Right to delete. You may request deletion of personal information we have collected, subject to certain legal exceptions.
  • Right to correct. You may request correction of inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
  • Right to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Right to non-discrimination. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA/CPRA rights.

How to exercise your rights. Submit a request to legal@docketlayer.com. We will respond within 45 days. We may ask you to confirm your wallet address or other identifiers to verify your request before processing. Because the Service collects minimal personal information and maintains no user accounts, many requests will result in confirmation that we hold only the data described in Section 2, or that we hold no information associated with your request.

11. Canadian Privacy Rights (PIPEDA and Provincial Laws)

If you are a Canadian resident, your personal information is subject to Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where applicable, substantially similar provincial legislation including Quebec’s Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector (Law 25 / Act 25), British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA BC), and Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA AB).

PIPEDA defines personal information broadly to include any information about an identifiable individual. Under this definition, IP addresses and, in certain contexts, pseudonymous wallet addresses may constitute personal information.

Your rights under PIPEDA:

  • Right of access. You may request access to the personal information we hold about you and information about how it has been used or disclosed.
  • Right of correction. You may request correction of personal information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Right to withdraw consent. Where our processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions. Note that withdrawing consent may affect your ability to use the Service.

Quebec residents (Law 25). Quebec’s Act 25 provides additional rights including the right to data portability and the right to be informed of, and to object to, automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects. DocketLayer does not make automated decisions about individuals on the basis of personal information collected through the Service.

How to exercise your rights. Submit a request to legal@docketlayer.com. We will respond within 30 days, consistent with PIPEDA’s requirements.

Accountability. DocketLayer LLC is the organization accountable for personal information under our control. All privacy inquiries, including complaints regarding our compliance with PIPEDA, may be directed to legal@docketlayer.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Updated versions will be posted at docketlayer.ai/privacy with a revised effective date. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
