AustLII: Australia and New Zealand Court Data for Agents
Coverage planned. Not yet live.
AustLII — the Australasian Legal Information Institute — is the open-access legal database covering courts and tribunals across Australia and New Zealand. Maintained jointly by the University of Technology Sydney and the University of New South Wales, AustLII provides free, structured access to federal and state court decisions, legislation, and tribunal rulings across both countries. Its New Zealand counterpart, NZLII, operates on the same open-access model.
For agent-native docket monitoring, AustLII and NZLII are strong candidates: both systems were designed with programmatic access in mind, the data is openly licensed, everything is in English, and the jurisdictions share a common-law tradition with the US and UK. Australia in particular is a major commercial and mining litigation market, while New Zealand offers clean, predictable data from a smaller but well-structured system. The Federal Court of Australia and the High Court of New Zealand are particularly relevant for compliance and cross-border commercial agents.
AustLII and NZLII coverage is coming to DocketLayer as part of our international expansion. We expect to begin with the Federal Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of New Zealand, expanding to state-level Australian courts and NZ District Courts over time. Pricing will follow the same pay-per-query model used for US PACER coverage.
